The Painful "Before" Painting

Just as in a diet program you must document your "before" images so that you can appreciate the change and the growth in the future, so it is with my watercoloring.

I'm using a book to teach me watercoloring techniques that help make the images come out in the way that I see them. The book asks you to copy a photograph of a painting that is in the book. The author says "I have deliberately given you no instruction".

Even as I was frustrated because I didn't know how to make the paints and brushes work the way I wanted them to, I was excited because I knew I was going to be learning these techniques soon.
